There’s a large park about 25 minutes away from our place in Polanco, CDMX. There are a number of attractions there including a botanica garden and a museum of anthropology but yesterday we went to visit Castillo de Chapultepec.
The grounds offer some great views overlooking parts of the city. Inside of the castle is a museum containing art and artifacts from Mexico’s history.

The castle is atop of Chapultepec hill and stands at 7,600 feet above sea level. But don’t forget. Mexico City is very high up. From the park below there is a winding entrance to get you into the castle grounds. It’s only about a 300 foot climb in total.
You can buy your tickets online, at a kiosk or from a person at the window. I think that the price is the same either way. It was 100 pesos for an adult entrance at the time that we went in May of 2025.
One thing to be aware of, you can have water on the walk up, but you can’t bring it into the castle. There are lockers down at the start of the climb if you want to leave something below. But if you take a reusable bottle with you, you’ll need to empty it out before entering the castle at the top.
