My dad asked me the other day how we find Lutheran congregations to worship at around the world, and I thought the answer might be useful to other Christian travelers.

As a someone who never traveled as a kid, I mean, I’d never let my home state before flying away to college at 17 years old. I never really thought much about travel but I was always fascinated by the incredible things that i’d seen in the encyclopedia.

Everywhere we went in New Zealand, and we went all over the place, there were bookshelves galore. Almost every hotel and cabin we stopped at had piles of books for guests to read, and we spotted quite a few take a book/leave a book boxes and shelves along the streets of the small villages we passed through on our drives.

Lake Hāwea/Wānaka, West Coast, Tongariro National Park. We’re at the beginning of week 4, our last week here in NZ. I’m sitting at the dinner table of our *fantastic* airbnb here on the north island in a little beach town called Kūaotunu on the Pacific Ocean.

New Zealand seems to have a very streamlined postal system in place. I don’t know if it has operated this way forever, or if it is the result of cutbacks away from a system more like I’ve encountered in the U.S. and everywhere else so far, but I have yet to see a dedicated post office here.
